THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
God has given us foundational truths that are recorded in the Bible that need to be understood concerning Jesus Christ if a person is to believe in Him in truth and have eternal life.
Jesus, who has been eternally One with God, came from the Kingdom of Heaven on a loving rescue mission for all humanity. His assignment from His Father was to become a one-time sacrifice for us all. His death upon the cross was the required price for our rebellion against God, which has led mankind into every form of evil, sin and lawlessness. As an expression of God’s love, Jesus was sent from the Father to be the only remedy for this tragic condition of mankind. Apart from Christ, all of us are destined for separation and eternal agony in the lake of fire. This is not God’s desire for anyone for He loves us all. Yet He will not override anyone’s free will who chooses to reject Him.
Jesus was born of a virgin girl named Mary by the Holy Spirit, lived a Holy life and taught about the Kingdom of God. He demonstrated His authority by the power of the Holy Spirit over all the works of darkness in the lives of people who were receptive to Him. After being betrayed, illegally tried, ruthlessly beaten by the whip and then crucified as a sacrifice for our sins, He was raised from the dead on the third day by the power of God. With the ransom for our sin fully paid and our freedom purchased, He ascended back to Heaven and is glorified there at the Father’s right hand as both Lord and Christ. Jesus said He will come again to establish His Kingdom upon this earth and declared that His Father has given all final judgement into His hands.
This message requires a response from every person (and no response is a response). A simple acknowledgement falls far short of the will of God. Believing these truths concerning Jesus Christ for salvation requires whole-hearted repentance of our sins and calls us to surrender our hearts and lives in obedience to Jesus as our Lord and Savior. This is the response the Father requires.
With that said, please read these scriptures below to better understand the good news of this message:
WE ARE ALL SINNERS & NEED A SAVIOR
-
"For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard." - Romans 3:23
-
"If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth." - 1 John 1:8
CONSEQUENCES OF SIN
-
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 6:23
-
"They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed." - 2 Peter 3:7
-
"He (Jesus) will come with his mighty angels, in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who don’t know God and on those who refuse to obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power." - 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9
-
"Then the devil, who had deceived them, was thrown into the fiery lake of burning sulfur, joining the beast and the false prophet. There they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. This lake of fire is the second death. And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire." - Revelation 20:10, 15
GOD’S LOVE DEMONSTRATED
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. John 3:16-18
But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. Remember, our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved. 2 Peter 3:8-9, 15
When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God. Romans 5:6-11
BELIEVE & RECEIVE THE FREE GIFT OF SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. Romans 3:24-25
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:8-10
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Rom. 10:9
The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 2 Cor. 4:4
Jesus said, “Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.” John 11:26
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. John 3:36
To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him (Jesus) receives forgiveness of sins through his name. Acts 10:43
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Tim. 2:5
And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. John 17:3
REPENT OF YOUR SINS & TURN TO GOD
“Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!” Acts 2:38, 40
Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Acts 3:19
If we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 1 John 1:9
ADOPTED CHILDREN OF GOD
Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. Ephesians 1:4-5
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12
Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. Romans 8:12-14
FAITH WITHOUT WORKS (ACTS OF OBEDIENCE TO GOD & HIS WORD) IS DEAD:
What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? You see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works. James 2:14, 17, 26
I preached...that all must repent of their sins and turn to God—and prove they have changed by the good things they do. Acts 26:20
SO...
When you sincerely believe these truths, the faith that arises within your heart will convict you and stir you to declare with your mouth, “JESUS IS LORD!”. With great gratitude in your heart, you will:
-
repent and turn from your sin and rebellion,
-
surrender your heart and life to Jesus and
-
pursue to live a life that glorifies, pleases and obeys God and His Word.
As you ask Him to fill your life with Himself, He will send the Holy Spirit deep into your life to teach you, empower you and make you like Jesus.
My prayer is that His will be done in your life as you place your hope, trust and confidence in Him, seeking to know Him and obey Him through the indwelling power and presence of the Holy Spirit in you. As you follow Jesus and learn to live as He lived, you will become a reflection of God and His Kingdom here on earth and will inherit eternal life with God through faith in Jesus Christ our Lord.
