"Probiotics are beneficial bacteria normally present in the digestive tract.  They are vital for proper digestion and also perform a number of other useful functions, such as preventing the overgrowth of yeast and other pathogens, and synthesizing vitamin K.  The probiotics most often used as supplements are acidophilus and bifidobacteria.  Cultured, or fermented, foods also contain various types and amounts of beneficial bacteria. These foods include buttermilk, cheese, kefir, miso, sauerkraut, tempeh, umeboshi and yogurt."

Lori:  I like to use kefir because it contains 12 different strains of good bacteria; yogurt usually only contains about three different strains.  Kefir is available in different flavors in groceries stores next to the yogurt.  It may be wise for some people to begin with small amounts and increase little by little.  A friend with quite a bit of yeast in the intestinal tract had some pain as the yeast was dying off.  When that happened the amount of Kefir was lessened each day and then increased again gradually.

"Colloidal silver is an inexpensive healing agent and disinfectant that has a myriad of applications.  It is a clear golden liquid composed of 99.9% pure silver particles approximately .001 to .01 microns in diameter that are  suspended in pure water.  Colloidal silver can be mixed with either tap or distilled water and applied topically, taken by mouth or administered intravenously.  Topically, it can be used to fight fungal infections of the skin or nails and to promote the healing of burns, wounds, cuts, rashes and sunburn.  It can be used on toothache and mouth sores, as eye drops, and as a gargle to fight tooth decay and bad breath.  It can also be used as sterilizer and can be sprayed on air conditioning filter and air duct and vents to prevent germs from growing.  Taken internally, colloidal silver can be used to fight infection.  It has been shown to be effective  against more that 650 disease-causing organisms, including Escherichia coli (E-Coli) bacteria and the fungus candida albicans."

Lori:  Personally, our family loves colloidal silver.  We have known it to be effective on ear infections, cuts, dropped in the nose to rid infections there, and especially to get rid of pink eye in a snap.

"This plant is known for its healing effect and is used in many cosmetic and hair care products.  There are over 200 different species of aloe that grow in dry regions around the world.  Aloe vera is commonly known as a skin healer, moisturizer and softener.  It is dramatically effective on burns of all types, and is also good for cuts, insect stings, bruises , acne and blemishes, poison ivy, welts, skin ulcers, and eczema.  Taken internally, 98- or 99- percent pure aloe vera is known to aid in the healing of stomach disorders, ulcers, constipation, hemorrhoids, rectal itching, colitis, and all colon problems.  It can also be helpful against infections, varicose veins, skin cancer, and arthritis, and is used in the treatment of AIDS.  We have had excellent results using colon cleansers containing psyllium husks in combination with aloe vera juice.  We have found this combination to be good for food allergy and colon disorder sufferers.  Psyllium keeps the folds and pockets in the colon free of toxic material that gathers there.  The aloe vera not only has a healing effect, but if constipation or diarrhea is present, it will return the stools to normal.  It takes a few weeks to cleanse the colon, but regular, periodic use will keep the colon clean.  As with any substance, it is possible to develop an intolerance to aloe vera juice, and or psyllium husks, so the treatment should not be used on an ongoing basis."

Lori:  Aloe vera comes in a gel as well as a liquid.  We use the gel for cuts and burns or sunburns on skin, and have ingested the juice for immune boosting.  Through my reading, it is my understanding that aloe vera prevents the cancer cells of the skin from going deeper.  I have also read that drinking aloe vera juice can be helpful where internal healing of skin is needed, such as in the colon with ulcerative colitis, digestive tract issues, or after surgery has taken place.  It's a great topic for an internet search.
